Copy songs from your iPod to your PC

Well i tunes does not have option of copying back your stored song to your pc well here is the trick that will do the job.

1. Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
2. In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
3. Navigate to the Music folder.
4. Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.

And you’re done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check “Keep iTunes Music Folder organized.”)

If you give this a go, lemme know how it goes. I’ll ammend the instructions with any additional info for other versions of Windows and iPods.

Just for the record, I did not write this article, but I would have known how to do this. But one thing I ahve noticed is that you do not need to go into the control panel. Instead just make explorer.exe show hidden folders. Then, navigate into the iPod directory, go into iPod_control, and follow step four of the article. Software

Peep into Windows 7

Although its not free, but still i could resist to lay my hand on this newly landed Os lets see what micorsoft has packed in it.

Windows 7, successor to Windows Vista, is slated to ship in early 2010 (although rumor has it that Microsoft hopes to get it out even earlier. But aside from saying it will refine Vista's kernel, Microsoft hadn't released many details about the new OS--until now. Pre-beta code distributed at the Microsoft Professional Developers' conference suggests that Microsoft is serious about creating a less in-your-face OS.

Meet Your Next Desktop: Sidebar Dies; Gadgets Live

Microsoft has killed the Sidebar in Windows 7, but the Gadgets it contained live on. They simply sit wherever you choose to place them on your desktop.

Device Stage: One-Stop Acess to Hardware-Related Tasks and Information

Device Stage is a new feature that gathers all of the information (everything from drivers and applications to manuals) relating to a particular phone, printer, or other piece of hardware, and lets you access it from a single window. But it will show up only if device vendors create an XML document based on a Microsoft template, a document that also must be approved by Microsoft. The good news is that such documents are a lot easier to create than new device drivers--and vendors can stick with the drivers created for Vista.

Libraries Aggregate Like Content in Different Locations

Windows 7 introduces Libraries, which are virtual folders that provide easy access to related content, regardless of its location on your PC or even on your network. While the OS will ship with several preset Libraries (Documents, Music, Photos, Video) based on file type, you can create additional Libraries based on criteria you set, such as music genre or photos created on a specific date.

Custom Theme Creation Gets Easier

Windows 7 introduces a slicker interface for choosing, customizing, and/or creating desktop Themes--a feature Microsoft says it will rename Styles before Windows 7 ships.

Take a Closer Look

The new Magnifier feature lets you enlarge a part of a screen in Windows 7.

Where's My Desktop?

If you frequently work with multiple windows and need to grab something off your desktop, you'll like the ability to quickly take a look. Here's a Windows 7 desktop before you click on the lower right hand corner of the taskbar...

Well this much for now i will update this post with more screenshot soon,Do comment on feature you love or hate about windows 7

Recover data form Scratch cd and Dvd's

How to recover MOST of scratched CD data discs

I learn an old thecnique to how to recover damaged or scratched diskswith some lost of data. In this case i have one borrowed film, with a chunck of 4 mb lost with a scratch in CD1 Install. Here we cover somespecial thecniques of how to create a full working CD from the scratched one. ..............

First some tools will be needed:

1. Alcohol 120%2. UltraISO3. Windows XP/2000 (not tested on 95/98/me)3. Small piece of cotton4. Dry cleaner paper5. Finally, oil for cooking.

First step - preparing the CD

Get the cotton and drop some water, start cleaning vertically the surface of CD.Do it 3 times and dry the water with a piece of dry cleaner paper. With a new pieceof cotton, drop some oil for cooking and start to wet the surface like you arewashing the CD with the oil. Dry carefully now. Some particles of oil will stay on themicrosurface of the scrath. It's okay. Seems the oil helps the laser of the CD/DVD driverto read the surface again. Sure this will work with small unreadable scratchs - some hardscratchs loose parts of the surface of the CD where we have data and it's lost forever. But if it is loosed try anyway. Whith this tip 80% of the small scratched CD's coud berecovered.

Second Step - testing the CD

With Alcohol 120% make an ISO - image making wizard - and lets see if the app canread the loosed surface. In my case Alcohol 120% had recovered 60% of the data. This is not enough. Have tryed other appz, they do not recover all the data. But theCD/DVD driver laser CAN recover all data in this case. the data is still there, what we do?

Third step - making the new CD

With the main copy system of windows explorer you can do it. Just create one folderwith the same name of the CD label for future burn reference, and copy the CD contentto the folder. When the CD copy process find the scratch, in majority of the cases, it'sslow down the reading and will recover ALL loosed data.If not, it just tell you there'san unreadable sector. In this case your CD is lost. But it's not my case, finallywindows explorer got all the data from the scratch and made a copy in the folder.with the ultraISO, wrote the original CD label, drop the content of the folder andsave as Iso. You can Test the new CD just mounting the iso in the Alcohol 120%. In mycase i did ISO of the two discs from MAX PAYNE 2 and tested installing from the mountedISO. Works like a charm. I got the 4 mb lost again. So, I have burned the CD and now i have a working copy from the scratched one.
Sounds too bizzarre, but works. Course you can jump the cleaning process and try to copythe content with Windows explorer. But in my case did not work without oil...

One likely reason your system is sluggish is that it's bedeviled by "craplets"--software that your PC maker installed because it was paid to. Craplets slow down startup and general operation.

This free software removes dozens of unwanted items automatically. It zaps only a specific set of craplets and trialware programs: Those that are specifically put on new PCs, such as QuickBooks Trial, Wild Tangent Games, Dell URL Assistant, and others. (For a full list, go to the PC Decrapifier site.) Before you use this utility, create a restore point in case it kills something you wanted to keep.

Log in with out usernames or password!!!

Registering with a Web site often means making a deal with the devil. You give the site information like your name, email address, and potentially more private data such as your mailing address, phone number, and age. But what happens with that information? You may get inundated by spam, your name may be sold to mailing lists and advertisers, and possibly worse. But for many Web sites, if you don't register, you can't log in and use the site.

This add-on solves the problem. Go to a Web site, right-click in the user name or password field, and select BugMeNot. A valid user name and password will then be entered into the form. You can then use the site without having to register. The add-on works in concert with the BugMeNot Web site, which has many user names and passwords for multiple sites.
Its avialble as an firefox addon.

8 Great How-To Web Sites

Because of sites like Yahoo Answers and Instructables, the Web has
become the first stop for people trying to fix something, build
something, or learn a new skill.

The "wisdom of the crowd" model works very well for how-to and
advice sites like Yahoo Answers and Instructables. The content at these
sites is created and contributed largely by the communities of people
that frequent the sites. At some of the sites you can ask a question,
and then read what informed members of the community have to say about
it.

Yahoo Answers; click for larger image.Yahoo Answers:
One of the best examples of community participation on the Net. At
Yahoo Answers, regular folks write in questions ("How do I get the
ring around the collar off of my white dress shirt and make it white
again?") and site users offer helpful answers. The answers are rated on
usefulness by other users.

HowStuffWorks; click for larger image.HowStuffWorks:
The perfect site for the endlessly curious, it lifts up the hood on
everything from carburetors to communism and explains in simple terms
what they are and how they work. The explanations aren't very deep
(most visitors don't want to read Das Kapital anyway), but it's the breadth of the topics the site explains that's so impressive.

Lynda.com; click for larger image.Lynda.com:
To learn how to use new software, we used to sit in darkened hotel
conference rooms watching a bored instructor drone on with a training
demo and a laser pointer. Or we bought a manual to go it alone. Neither
of those approaches works nearly as well as the subscription-based
online videos offered by Lynda.com, which teaches you to use just about
any creative, design, and development software you can think of.

Instructables:
Learn how to make anything from a corsage to a catapult. Users write in
about what they do or have invented, and how they did it. The site
originated with guys at the MIT Media Lab who needed a place to demonstrate their latest inventions.

FixYa:
Your iPod just flat-lined. Don't panic, and don't throw it. At FixYa, a
team of experts and a large group of users address common tech and
gadget breakdowns and how to fix them. You can get help by posting a
message on the site or by having a Web chat with one of the experts.

Treehugger:
Here you can find a lot of information on how to live greener every
day. The site specializes in covering the "green" aspects of many
parts of life-everything from food to business to recreation to
fashion. You'll also find news and views on the Green Movement.

Livemocha:
Livemocha (in beta) is a new, free approach to learning new languages,
enhancing the process by establishing learning alliances with "language
buddies" from around the globe.

Dictionary.com / Thesaurus.com:
The English language is complicated, and in some ways, illogical. As
such, I need a good user's manual for it almost every day. Here it is.

Boot Faster with Startup Delayer

Enter Startup Delayer,
which does exactly what its name suggests: delays startup programs so
they don’t run until later. The end result: your PC boots much more
quickly.

The utility presents you with a list of all the programs
that start when your system does. To set a delay for any of them, just
drag it to the white bar at the bottom of the window. You’ll see a line
representing the program; drag it left or right to decrease or increase
the delay. Repeat this for other programs you want to postpone.

For
example, if you have iTunes installed, you’ll see a startup program
called iTunesHelper.exe. Unless you plan to connect your iPod or run
iTunes the moment your PC boots, why not delay this applet for four or
five minutes? Same goes for things like LightScribe Control Panel and
Google Update. Delay those for, say, seven minutes and eight minutes,
respectively. Don’t mess with programs you don’t recognize, which might
be integral to system operation, but the devils you know can easily be
put off till later.

Startup Delayer is a freebie, and it’s the
best way I know of to speed up a slow-booting PC. It’s a must-have for
anyone who installs a lot of software.

AD Aware 2008

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware Free includes better detection of adware and
malware, a scanning engine that goes easy on your PC's system
resources, and a snazzy new interface. The updates apply to all three
versions of Ad-Aware, which now go by the names Ad-Aware 2007 Free,
Plus, and Pro.

In my evaluation of Ad-Aware 2007 Free, I found that the program lived
up to its promise of cutting scan time on my PC; for me, this time went
down from 7 minutes to 4 minutes. Harder to test was the program's new
ability to seek and delete rootkits and other threats that burrow deep
into your PC. For that, I take Lavasoft's word when it says earlier
versions of Ad-Aware weren't equipped to handle today's threats.

Also new is the program's new interface, which is available in all
three versions. Finding tools and tweaking configuration have been made
much easier.

What Processes are Safe to Close?

You get a lot of processes when you press CTRL-ALT-DELETE, bring up the Task Manager, and click theProcess tab. It's impossible to say with any certainty which ones you can safely close. Although attempting to end any of them produces dire warnings of apocalyptic upheaval, such disasters rarely occur.

Of course, I wouldn't close any of them without saving every open document first. One must take precautions.

But here's a simple rule: Don't close any process without first finding out what it does. One good place to look isProcessLibrary.com. Just enter the name into the site's Find field, press ENTER, and see what it says.

Actually, the site offers an even easier way to look up a process:ProcessQuickLink. This free program puts an icon next to each process in the task manager. Click any one of these icons, and your browser will open to that process's description in ProcessLibrary.com.

But ProcessQuickLink is itself a process that grabs nearly 5MB of memory, and one of those needless autoloaders I warned you about two weeks ago. So after you install it, right-click ProcessQuickLink's systray icon and uncheck RunProcessQuickLink 2 on Windows Startup. Then manually launch the program from the Start menu when you actually need it.

ProcessLibrary doesn't list every process. If it doesn't have the one you need information on, Bunk of the Answer Line forum recommends another site,AnswersThatWork. And FenderGuy2112 points out that Googling a process name is bound to turn up useful information.
