Well there are few feature that separates Vista ultimate edition form basic edition features like Shadow copy which enable to restore previous version of files that you have created this is useful when you accidently made changes to some file can't undo it.

But the Basic version of this does the same job but it does not nag  you to restore i mean it maintains the required data but there are no option required to retrieve those files.
