With new Docx format for all files created in Microsoft office 2007 its quite annoying as they do not work with older verions of same software but there methods you can use those files.

Method 1 

If you're using Word 2007, you can still save your files as .doc files so that anyone can read them. To save an individual file this way, in the Save As dialog box's 'Save as type' pull-down menu, select Word 97-2003 Document.
